Africa has the highest ratio of surgical disability in the world but the lowest capacity to provide surgical care. This capacity is even worse when sub-specialty surgery is needed.
The mission of the Foundation for Special Surgery Europe and its sister foundation in the US is to provide the highest level of sub-specialized surgical care to patients in Africa and other underserved regions. The Foundation is committed to being the leader in training the next generation of sub-specialized local surgeons in the region by enlisting the participation of surgeons across various specialties to provide premium care, skills transfer and education to benefit patients and the long-term sustainability of the health care system.
Our vision is to aid in eradicating the burden of surgical diseases in Africa and other underserved regions through compassionate patient care, research and sharing of sub-specialized expertise.
