The mission of the Foundation for Special Surgery Europe and its sister foundation in the US is to provide high-quality, multispecialty care to enhance the well-being of patients in Africa and other areas of need. The Foundation is committed to increasing resources in these regions by enlisting the participation of surgeons across various specialties to provide premium care, skills transfer and education to benefit patients and the long-term sustainability of the health care system. Our current key project is the development of a teaching hospital and surgical center in Accra Ghana for those patients in need of highly specialized facial, head and neck and skull base surgery. With your support, we have made considerable progress: We purchased land neighbouring to a orthopedic hospital with a similar mission; we obtained the building permit; IB Federlein (Mellrichstadt, Germany) donated the construction plans. The next phase will entail the actual construction. For this phase, we are in need of US $ 1.5 M. Each donation small and large makes an important difference.
